EDM Essentials
EDM (Electronic Dance Music) Essentials is a multi-component packaging project themed around EDM party must-have items. It’s a kit meant for beginners who might not know what to expect and plan for when it comes to the festival scene. The pack includes a belt-bag, lip balm, glow sticks, ear plugs, sunglasses, and a kandi bracelet making kit.
Apps used: Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Procreate
Sketching
The logo was intended to play off the shape and typography of kandi letter beads. Kandi bracelets are a big part EDM culture—people often trade Kandi as a show of friendship and community.
Another sketch shows some initial planning of how the packaging would wrap around different components. These were planned to be mostly black with bright accents.
Process and Inspiration
EDM festivals are a very visceral and explosive experience, so this project was designed with feeling in mind. The packaging emulates the dark environment and colorful lights of an EDM party, and the swirling design could be interpreted as the flow and energy of the music.
